I’M THE HIGH VIBE

MAKEUP ARTIST

18 seasons of fashion weeks across Canada, thousands of faces, hundreds of brides, world politicians, bands and an Oscar winner. And you know what? It's not about the makeup.

Makeup Biz Mentoring

I've been asked for this a lot over the years, so I'm finally decided to open up my mentoring. I speak at schools, I know business and branding, coach people starting out and yes...I know makeup. If you're a student or makeup artist who would love help growing their business, get in touch and we can see if we're a good fit.

I'd love to up level my makeup biz

SO WHAT THE EF IS HIGH VIBE MAKEUP?

High energy = coming from a good, clean place

I believe in being an example and doing the best we can. We should know where our products come from and what they're made of. I believe in everything having an energy. And not just with makeup. That unicorn pillow bought at a discount department store made by overworked, underpaid people overseas...not #highvibe. we are what we eat, and what we put on our skin goes into our blood stream, it effects our health, we pass it on to generations after us, those lotions we put on effect the environment and all precious souls on it. I believe in making the best choices, for everyone and every thing.

STAYING TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE

Don't buy into hyped products because you think you need them. Be aware of your footprint. That's what high vibe is to me. Be a rebel with a cause. Support indie beauty, slather yourself with yummy products that are sustainably sourced. Eco doesn't equal farmers market granola anymore... and putting non-toxic makeup on is truly beautiful. And def not tested on animals. Like.... come. on. How is that still a thing?!

I’M OBSESSED WITH

CLEAN BEAUTY

SOME CALL IT ECO, I CALL IT COMMON SENSE.  I’VE BEEN WORKING WITH HEALTHIER OPTIONS FOR OVER A DECADE AND OWNED ONE OF CANADA’S FIRST GREEN BEAUTY SKINCARE AND MAKEUP STORES FOR FIVE YEARS.

Coming from a heavy fashion background, I always loved the environment, but felt I had to choose.  While being a guest artist at a high end department store with a top brand one day and watching women scramble for overpriced PR hyped products that are worth pennies and have barely any ingredient value – I knew there had to be a better way.  So I went rogue.

A lot of my knowledge is through hundreds of clients and customers and their stories, everything from cancer recovery, allergies, eczema to they-don’t-even-know-what.  Helping so many people find the right product fit was a mission for me.  I’ve tried most product lines on the market and am right here to help you find better choices for yourself.  More and more people are realizing the benefits of switching and are educating themselves to the toxins in many products, the tricky part is they may not live close to a shop that carries a lot of these items or would like advice beyond what the employee of the shop can offer…  and trying before you commit is so important.  Consider me your un-biased makeup bestie.  I want you to love your new self ritual items.

I’m here to help you look and FEEL your very best.

Makeup Lessons and (*gasp*) shopping trips

Did you know that I do makeup lessons and 1:1 shopping trips?  Consider me your personal educator and concierge.  Makeup lessons can be done just the two of us or as a group and start at two hours.  We go through your makeup kit and I also bring my whole kit to play with.  I don’t “sell” anything, so you can be assured I’m helping you find the top product for your needs.  Every lesson is tailored to what you would like to learn and, when I can, I come without makeup on to show you extra application techniques.

Lessons start at $200 for two hours, three hours for $250

Shopping trips, 1 hour-  $75 when added on to lesson (doesn’t have to be the same day) or $100

FOR ME IT ISN’T ABOUT MAKEUP

IT’S A TOOL FOR CONFIDENCE

I love the ritualness of it.  I was the first kid by far to start wearing makeup in school.  I just always “got it”, texture, bone structure, colours… and I loved putting makeup on others.  High school evenings included many photoshoots with friends with my Polaroid camera.  I did the makeup for my high school plays as well as the local theatre group.  And then, small town girl living in downtown Toronto!  I went to school for fashion business, worked in my field for a while but makeup called me back.  Through a fluke I ended up assisting for Toronto Fashion Week and after two seasons, they asked me to be on the main team.

I’m so so proud of the makeup career that I’ve had so far.

I learned from some of the best in the industry.  I met many other artists, collaborated on creative photoshoots, assisted on commercials, started helping on weddings… I hustled. You work for free way too often, waitressing while building up a portfolio.

And now, years later, I learned I love makeup, but what I really love about it is helping people feel their best selves.  That confidence that comes out is beautiful.  THAT’S where I focus my work now.  Bringing truth to the surface and seeing how stunning everyone really is.

Beautiful, amazing and talented!!

Lyz will make you feel comfortable the first minute you meet with her. She is a beautiful soul who listens to your concerns and works with you in achieving the look that you are going for. She is extremely knowledgeable about beauty products especially eco-friendly ones. She also has a great sense of humour. Her confidence and sense of self is inspiring. When she did my makeup, I looked and felt radiant because of the beautiful makeup application...but mostly by the confidence boost that came with the great conversations! I can’t wait to work with her again!!

I first met Lyz Plant at a time in my life when I neither felt happy with who I was nor did I feel beautiful. But I was finally open to trying again to create something different for myself. Lyz patiently listened to me tell a little bit of my story, and together we decided what look might be best for the new feeling and direction I was trying to achieve. It was a makeup session like no other. The products were safe for my sensitive skin, as well as safe for the planet, and her goal was to bring out my inner beauty and generate new confidence. Lyz is positive, supportive of women’s stories and their journeys, she is warm and generous of spirit. She has this natural colour perception, and an ability to work under pressure with grace. I felt at ease and when I finally saw my reflection in the mirror I couldn’t hold back tears, I felt beautiful but more than that, I felt it shining from the inside out. She is an artist of the human spirit in her intention, and since that day I have sought out her guidance more than once, and I believe at this point, it is Lyz who I would choose where possible to sit with me to ‘colour my palette.’ :). I can’t wait to work with her again.
